Hive report 5/15/26

Two main observations of note:

I saw the queen in the south hive. I did not see signs that this colony requeened after I gave them a new frame of brood. She’s still in there laying, but I still saw one or two cells with 2-3 eggs in them and a few that were off center.

South hive queen!

The north hive looks great. They are drawing out comb on the wax foundations on the honey super. There are so many of them! I inspected the frames in the top deep, but didn’t go lower that that. I am hoping I didn’t miss any swarm signs down there, but I thought it was a good sign that they had moved up into the honey super and were building so much comb. I think I’m going to be able to harvest honey this year!

I’m still dictating to my phone while it records video and transcribing notes when I get home. This is pretty clunky. I told Chad I could see this being perhaps one of the only use cases for those perv glasses, but then he suggested a GoPro. I might need to look into this. I’m not sure where I’d mount it in my veil.
