Girl Crush Philly!

One of the reasons why I wanted to move to a city when I was growing up was so that I could have easier access to all of the interesting things that are more available in urban areas. Chad and I feel so privileged and delighted with many of our recent experiences that we never could have had in the town where we grew up. There are so many people doing so many cool things!

So it seems appropriate that I was able to appreciate this one small convenience now that we live here by driving just 20 minutes to the venue for Girl Crush Philly. Organized by The Jealous Curator, Girl Crush is a series of art and tea parties around the country. Shauna and Stephen hosted the Philly party in their beautiful loft in north Philadelphia.

Danielle led us through exercises that prompted us to think critically about what’s holding us back in our creative endeavors (or, in some cases, ahem, lack thereof). Everyone was so attentive, supportive, and kind. Everyone, regardless of situation or station in life, had struggles to share and solutions to offer. It was just a really powerful and productive day.

It was also a delicious day! coco love provided most delectable treats, and we drank tea and coffee and ate delicious pastries, sandwiches, whoopie pies, and muffins.

It was so lovely to meet everyone and so refreshing to hear that level of honesty coming from some really great creative women. I’m definitely still processing the experience, but I can say for sure that I came away from it with reassurance, motivation, and the awareness that no one has everything completely figured out, regardless of how good they might look on the internet. I am left with lots to think about and lots of work to do!
